CONSTITUTION

ARTICLE 1- NAME

1.1 This Organization shall be know as the Association of Managers in Canadian College, University and Student Centres, or by the acronym "AMICCUS-C".

1.2 The words "College, University and Student Centres" are herein defined as facilities or organizations which exist to provide educational, cultural, recreational and social programs, facilities, services or opportunities for members of the campus communities which they may seek to serve, but primarily the students.
   

ARTICLE 2- PURPOSE

2.1 Through an ongoing commitment to the development of its members, AMICCUS-C will be recognized by the college and university community as a leading contributor to the quality of student and campus life.

2.2 Our mission is to provide peer support, personal and professional development opportunities and a community of fellowship for our members. By organizing an annual conference and through effective communication, we encourage our membership to share and enhance their experience and knowledge, for the benefit of the students our members serve.

2.3 AMICCUS-C's core values are pragmatic statements which govern our decisions and behaviour:

COMMUNICATION: We foster open communication and cooperation throughout the association.

CREATIVITY: We encourage the development and sharing of novel, imaginative and innovative ideas and approaches.

PERSONAL GROWTH AND KNOWLEDGE: We believe that life-long learning and the acquisition of new skills knowledge are fundamental to our member's success.

INTEGRITY: We are committed to the highest standards of ethics and integrity.

HELPING: We are sympathetic to the needs of our members and strive to assist wherever possible to help our members in meeting challenges.

FRIENDSHIP: We endeavour at all times to create a friendly atmosphere which fosters a sense of support and belonging.

2. 4 Any activities not in themselves in furtherance of the Association's purposes as outlines in 2. 1, 2. 2 and 2. 3 above shall not constitute a substantial part of its total activities.
  

ARTICLE 3 - MEMBERSHIP

3.1 Membership in the Association shall be open to managers from any university, college or student centre or any student government organization in Canada. The lack of a centre facility shall not prevent any college, university or student organization from becoming a member of the Association.
    

ARTICLE 4 - REGIONS 

4.1 The Association shall be divided into geographical regions which shall be as follows:

Region 1: The Eastern Region, consisting of the Provinces of Newfoundland, Nova Scotia,
New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island;

Region 2: The Central Region, consisting of the Provinces of Quebec and Ontario; and

Region 3: The Western Region, consisting of the Provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia, together with the Northwest Territories and the Yukon Territory.
   

ARTICLE 5 - OFFICERS OF THE ASSOCIATION

5.1 The Association's officers shall consist of the following: One President, one Communications Director and up to four Regional Representatives, one from each of the Eastern and Western Regions and up to two from the Central Region.

5.2 The Officers shall be elected annually by the Membership at the Annual Business Meeting, but there shall be no provision to prevent the membership from re-electing any or all of the individuals currently holding those positions. No Officer may hold more than two positions simultaneously.
   

ARTICLE 6 - CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS 

6.1 The Constitution the Association can only be altered or amended at the Annual Business Meeting, and, even then, only if the following requirements are observed:

A. Individuals or organizations wishing to bring any change to the Association's Constitution must be representatives or employees of a Member in Good Standing, as shown on the Association's Membership List for the year in question;

B. The precise nature of the required change must be submitted to the President of the Association, in writing, no less than four weeks before the commencement of the Conference; and

C. The required change (s) must secure the support of no less than two-thirds of the eligible voters present.

6.2 The attached section entitled "Bylaws" forms a significant part and must be considered as inclusive to the Constitution. Changes to the "Bylaws" will require the support of a simple majority (fifty percent plus one) of the eligible voters present
